“Mesh: A Sci-Fi Quartet is a breathtaking journey through science, philosophy, and imagination, exploring existence, consciousness, and humanity’s place in the cosmos.”

Prepare to embark on a mesmerizing journey through the cosmos in Mesh: A Sci-Fi Quartet, a spellbinding collection of four interconnected tales that explore humanity’s greatest questions: our origins, our purpose, and the delicate balance between existence and eternity. With dazzling imagination and profound depth, Dr. Sarker invites readers into a world where science and philosophy merge, offering stories that are as intellectually thrilling as they are emotionally resonant.

In The Passing, the remnants of humanity confront the consequences of their greatest creation—an advanced intelligence that questions the very foundations of trust and survival. The story explores themes of legacy and evolution, drawing readers into a gripping narrative of transformation and inevitability.

The Star Stripper takes us into the distant future, where time moves at an unimaginable pace and existence is a delicate dance between survival and meaning. This tale of sacrifice, love, and cosmic defiance unfolds in a world where even the vastness of eternity can feel confining, compelling readers to ponder the moral weight of their choices.

Unknow delves into the consciousness of an extraordinary being, stranded on an alien planet, as it reflects on its purpose and the profound beauty of the unknowable. With poetic introspection and haunting insights, this story asks whether the search for meaning is an endless journey—or the ultimate surrender to silence.

In Flicker, a single, fleeting moment captures the essence of a distant civilization—a mystery that challenges humanity to understand the fragility of existence and the legacy we leave behind. As a brilliant scientist deciphers a cosmic message, readers are invited to marvel at the profound beauty of a story that spans time and space.

Niladri Sarker’s Mesh: A Sci-Fi Quartet is a masterclass in speculative fiction, weaving tales that provoke thought, stir emotion, and inspire awe. Each story is an intricate mosaic of science, philosophy, and imagination, exploring the boundaries of human understanding and the mysteries of the universe.

A former research scientist at NASA’s JPL who contributed to key space missions exploring the outer planets and moons, Dr. Sarker is expert at seamlessly blending his expertise in hard science with the boundless creativity of fiction.

Synopsis

Angg and her father journey across the globe, discovering rare creatures like the bald ibis in Africa, the wetapunga in New Zealand, and the solenodon in Cuba. Along the way, Angg learns about nature’s resilience and fragility, becoming determined to protect these unique living fossils for future generations. This beautifully illustrated book, filled with vibrant images of the animals and Angg’s adventures, will captivate both children and adults alike.

Chapter 1: A BALD HAIR DAY - During a trip to Morocco’s Souss-Massa National Park, Angg discovers a world where humans become "mothers" to the critically endangered Northern Bald Ibises. With their scruffy feathers and comical bald heads, the birds are both fascinating and funny—but their story is a serious one.

Chapter 2: A WHOLE LOTTA WETA - On New Zealand's Little Barrier Island, Angg meets a giant wetapunga, a flightless insect, and learns about its endangered status. Bonding with the weta, she reflects on humanity’s impact on wildlife. Inspired by conservation efforts, Angg leaves determined to protect nature and ensure creatures like the wetapunga thrive.

Chapter 3: THE SOUL OF THE SOLENODON - In this heartwarming chapter, Angg and her father meet the ancient and rare solenodon in Cuba. As they learn about this venomous, nocturnal mammal’s remarkable survival through time, Angg is struck by its vulnerability. She vows to protect these living fossils, inspired to share their story and secure their future.

Kshata aka "Wounds" is a book of forty-four poetries written over a period of eight years. The original work is in Bengali. Recently, Niladri took upon himself the arduous task of translating it to English in order to reach a wider international audience. It's always difficult - if not impossible - to do justice to a poem by translating. Yet, in this case, since the translator is the author himself, the poetries remain in their purest forms even when read in the English language.
